ProTech Pumps has more than 50 years of hydraulic and pneumatic engineering experience in the design and manufacture of pumps and systems for pressure testing and chemical injection.

ProTech Air Driven Liquid Pump Design

Our range of liquid pumps are pneumatically driven, reciprocating plunger pumps. The pumps are ratio devices that utilise low pressure compressed air to drive a larger diameter piston (area x pressure), which is linearly connected to a smaller hydraulic piston/plunger. Using this ratio principal, a higher hydraulic pressure can be generated. Materials of construction include an all stainless steel wetted end and polyurethane pressure seals as standard. Specialised construction materials and special seals are also available on request. The liquid pumps are compact and lightweight, require no airline lubrication and are suitable for use in water, oil and most chemical applications. Every ProTech Liquid Pump is available as a standalone pump unit or alternatively as a complete packaged system. Click here for more on our ProPak liquid pump systems.

Choosing the right Air Driven Liquid Pump

ProTech liquid pump model numbers reflect the pump’s nominal pressure ratio, that is, how many times greater pressure can be generated from the air drive pressure. You need to use these ratios, along with your specific output pressure requirements to select your pump. The table further down the page allows you to review and compare the key technical data across the liquid pump range. In addition, we categorise our pumps into different series based on the size of the air drive and the stroke length. Our different series are outlined below.

PM Series – Air Driven Liquid Pumps

The PM series are the smallest liquid pumps in the range, and are sometimes known as a mini liquid pumps. The pumps are single acting, single 80mm air drive units that are capable of pressures in excess of 11,000 PSI / 800 BAR. Their size makes them a good replacement for a hand pump or for pressure testing applications where small vessels are being tested.

PX Series – Air Driven Liquid Pumps

The PX series of liquid pumps are single acting, single 100mm air drive units that are capable of pressures in excess of 15,000 PSI / 1,040 BAR.  A slightly bigger pump than then PM series, the PX liquid pumps deliver approximately 3 times more flow at given pressures than the PM series.

PXD Series – Air Driven Liquid Pumps

The PXD series of liquid pumps are double acting, single 100mm air drive units that are capable of pressures in excess of 11,000 PSI / 750 BAR. The double acting feature means that fluid is pumped on both strokes of the pump, giving greater efficiency as well as more flow for the same volume of air consumed.

PG Series – Air Driven Liquid Pumps

The PG series of liquid pumps are single acting single 160mm air drive units that are capable of pressures in excess of 45,000 PSI / 3,200 BAR.  Larger again, the PG series of liquid pumps delivers approximately 4 times the flow of the PX series at given pressures.

PGD Series – Air Driven Liquid Pumps

The PGD series of liquid pumps are double acting single 160mm air drive units that are capable of pressures in excess of 45,000 PSI / 3,200 BAR.  The largest double acting pump in the ProTech range, these pumps pump fluid on both strokes, giving greater efficiency as well as more flow for the same volume of air consumed.
